We had so much fun this year gearing up for Halloween. Anna had her costume picked out months ago and I was really surprised that she wanted to still wear it after all this time. But, she did! She was a "Barbie Pet Doctor." Owen, went as a "Monkey." He looked soooo cute in his little monkey outfit. His tail was hilarious! They were able to wear their costumes a lot this year as we went to a MOPS Fall Party, Trick-or-Treating on KU's campus, Anna's preschool's fall outing and then on Halloween itself.
With Anna's birthday so close to Halloween, it seems to spring up on us very quickly. So much so, that we forgot to carve our pumpkins. The great news there is that we get to keep them on the porch for Thanksgiving! However, she did ask a few times since Halloween why we didn't carve the pumpkins. Well, there's always next year!
On Halloween itself, we got to dress up for Anna's preschool and she and her preschool friends and teachers walked to a retirement home to sing songs for the "grandmas and grandpas" and have a costume parade. There were some really cool costumes this year. We came home and rested, and then got ready for the fun and spooky night ahead. First, we went to the Mustard Seed Church. They've been hosting a "Harvest Party" for years. Some good friends invited us to attend, so we did. We had the best time. It was a lot of fun for Anna. We made it back in time to trick-or-treat around our neighborhood. A lot of our close neighbors always want to see the Anna (and now Owen) dressed up! Anna's favorite house is on the next block over. They have a couple of huge blow up spiders and other spooky characters. The owner sits outside and 'quietly' waits for the kids to walk up before he makes his presence known.
For some reason, and I say that with a bit of sarcasm, Anna loves Halloween. It could be because it's my second favorite holiday... and now hers. But, we do have some fun!
