She's been reading words and short, short books for a while. She also is the author of her own small "books"... But, last night, Anna read this book to Owen, Dan and I, for our bed time story. It was such a wonderful feeling to be laying there listening to her read and get excited when she could read the whole page without needing to sound out anything. There were some words that gave her trouble and we were there to help, but she did it. As we were listening to her, I thought about the road that we have traveled to get here. All the alphabet songs, letters, times watching the"Word Factory," sounding out words, workbooks, first time she spelled her name and mommy... and now, reading a book!!
This goes hand in hand with the school conference we had on Thursday night with her teacher. Mrs. Mullenbach had nothing but wonderful things to say about her and her kindergarten experience. She said she was a sweet, helpful young lady. She's very proud of her and her achievements thus far - as we are too.
Thanks to my great friend, Sara C, for giving her this book when she wasn't even born yet. We'll remember it forever along with this accomplishment.
Way to go Anna!! We are soooo proud of you!!
