Oh Owen....

He's soooo sweet in the mornings. As he begins to wake up every morning, he feels for my face wanting to make sure I'm still there. He pats my cheek, pats my arm, then moves closer to cuddle. I wrap him up in my arms while he mumbles "mama." He's just sooo sweet in the mornings... I love this time with him. I look forward to it...

Then, we get out of bed. Then, I have to try and get him dressed. He only wants Momma to change his diaper, pick out his clothes, tie his shoes, get his breakfast and 'mik.' If he willing let me do all these things, it would be great. However, most mornings, I have to chase him, soothe the frustrated tears (because he wants to stay in jammies) and 'encourage him to eat faster.' That's how most mornings begin for us...

Well, today, I kind of had had it. We got up and he just wasn't listening - now that's normal, but today he was getting into a bit deeper trouble than normal. He wanted to sit on the table - right into the chocolate sprinkles from his donut. Wouldn't wash up and ran around and around the house with chocolate hands. He wouldn't get off Anna's bed so she could make it. Then, he fought with Anna over his toothpaste while it was open so his expensive 'non-fluoride' toothpaste got all over the floor... And, it was 9:15 in the morning.

Then, I sat down with the kids and prayed for patience today.

We then got up and Owen decided he wanted to push our bedroom door as far open as he could get it - pushing and pushing until "POP" the door stopper pushed through the door making a hole.

Hmph.... I forgot that someone had once told me that when you pray for patience, God gives you something to work on patience with...

Luckily, a young neighbor girl could come over and play with him for a couple of hours while Daddy and Mommy got some things accomplished while giving us a break from our 'independent' thinker. It was probably the best money we've spent in a while!

As we went to dinner tonight, with Owen in his cute dinosaur short outfit, jacket and snow boots (yep- snow boots - I have to pick my battles with this one), he was so tired and showing us his 'independent' side every moment he could. We still couldn't help smiling at both kids and just thinking how lucky we are to have such great kids.

As we were walking out Anna picked up the free little "Coffee News" flyer and I read horoscopes to everyone on the way home. This is Owen's for the week...

Libra: "You might feel a bit wild or impulsive, causing you to act in a manner which could embarrass you later."

I looked back and he was asleep - too bad. I think he would have agreed with it.

Love,
Becky
