At Anna's school, when kids demonstrate good behavior and good choices, they get a punch on their punch card. There are four words on their punch cards - Respect, Caring, Safety and Responsibility - "Four to the Core" they call it!
When a student gets enough punches to fill a word, they get to choose a trinket from the 'trinket' box at school, play a game in the hallway, or some other little treat. Once they fill all the punches on all the words (fill their card), they get another, larger "prize." Some examples of these include, picking a day for a PJ day for your class, or bring a toy to school day, call mom or dad, and other great rewards.
As Anna was getting punches this last fall, she could only think of one thing she wanted for her "prize" once she filled her card. She wanted to go back to her Kindergarten class and read to the class. So, on December 21, 2010, she took her very own book, "Moose's Loose Tooth," to read to Mrs. Mullenbach's class. She thought it was a very fitting book since "alot of kindergarteners are loosing their first teeth."
It goes without saying that we were very proud of Anna and her wonderful behavior that earned her a reward, but that she picked such a neat 'prize' makes us smile all the more...
GREAT job, Anna!!
