Twedts go to the Iowa State Fair! Part 1

We LOVE the Iowa State Fair!
Who knew what we were missing?  We went Opening Day this year (for our first trip) on 8.11.  It was not very crowded and beautiful - sunny and 77'.  We went through the Varied Industries Bldg, ate pork chops on a stick - our favorites, ate corndogs, rode the Sky Glider, watched horseshoes (and learned the rules), saw the Butter Cow, walked through the cattle barn, swine barn and horse barn, saw all the tractors and then the RVs that were for sale (literally we walked through 25 campers at least), saw barrel racing, saw the massive boars and walked the Avenue of Breeds, admired the Clydesdales, ate a walking taco and we had eggs on a stick.

On Saturday night, 8.13, Dan's dream of seeing Def Leppard in concert became a reality.  We were able to go see them and Heart in concert with some friends!  It was really a great concert.  They haven't changed much in all these years! We also were able to listen to the Nadas, a local band that seems really great! For concert night, we had a sitter for the kids so it was weird walking around without them.

Just walking in!

Owen, Clifford the Big Red Dog, and Anna

Mommy and Anna on the Sky Glider (I was terrified)

Isn't she beautiful?

Daddy and Owen on the Sky Glider (yep, I was still terrified)

View looking down the Grand Concourse facing west.  See, not too crowded!
