Owen's First Soccer Experience: Grasskickers!

Owen had his start with soccer tonight. He started with a local organization, V.S.A. and we signed him up for "Grasskickers." Grasskickers is for the littlest soccer players, 3-6 yr olds. They are put in groups according to ages, so Owen plays with about seven other 3 yr olds.

After learning some basics (what you do with the ball and other information), they worked on some drills.  The hardest one for Owen was when they said to dribble the ball.  Well, he picked up his ball and tried to dribble it like a basketball- in the grass.  We had to explain, when you're playing soccer, you dribble it with your feet by kicking it little by little.  Finally, the last 15-20 minutes of Grasskickers, the kids split up into two teams and played a little game.  It was sooo cute!  One other little boy, whose name happens to be Owen too, was really good and basically had control of the soccer ball 90 percent of the game.

He told us he really liked it and wants to go back next week!  We were all excited because Anna has never played soccer, so it was a completely new experience for all of us.  We're very proud of Owen for trying something new!
