I Love my Job!

Love my job... Here's a quote from kindergarten recess... Me to Owen: "Owen, I love you so much but please stay out of the mud because I just washed your shoes this past weekend." Another kindergartner then said, "Wait! You're Owen T's mom?" Me, "Yep." With huge eyes he replied, "Wow! I didn't see that one coming!!" The things these kids say!!

Happy Half Birthday, Little Buddy!!

 

We don't normally celebrate half birthdays, but this year, Owen and Anna have talked it up - a lot! So, we decided we'd take Owen and Anna out for Orange Leaf after the Drake Blue Mile to celebrate his half birthday! It's the little things!

Grand Blue Mile

Anna and Dan ran the Drake Grand Blue Mile! This mile run is the annual start of the Drake Relays here in Des Moines.  Dan has run it four times and this is Anna's 2nd year running it. They have a recreational division, men's and women's competitive division and Invitational Championship run.  Dan and Anna ran in the recreational division. I am very pleased to say that Anna had a personal record at 7:58, placing 25th out of 253 kids in her division (under 13).

Owen Tooth #8

So I was just making dinner when all of a sudden I hear banging on the front door and I see this group of friends yelling and Owen with his hand held out. He lost his eighth tooth playing basketball and chewing gum. What a great way to lose it! A memory for sure!! Later, Owen told me that he was chewing his gum and then all the sudden there was "two things in his mouth!"  Love this boy!!

Tooth #13 ???

Truth be told, I'm a bit lost on how many teeth Anna has lost. The orthodontist says she only had six more to lose before today, then Anna told me Daddy pulled a molar that I forgot to blog about, and today (St. Patrick's Day) she lost a tooth at Grandma Shirley's.  This makes tooth number 13 I think.  Anna wants to make sure we remember all her lost teeth so I'm doing the best I can! Although, I do have to say that she was very sorry Daddy couldn't help her pull it like she had promised. So she's going to wait to put it under her pillow until we meet up with him in a few days so she can show it to him. Sweet girl!!

Basketball ~ Owen

Owen LOVES playing basketball!  This year, he played regular season as well as second season! He was over the moon when he found out his Dad was coaching second season.  It turned out really fun when our neighbor decided to be the assistant coach for second season as well.  Owen played this last season with his friends, Ryan and Cael (lives down the street)...

Bulldogs Basketball ~ Anna!

It's no secret that Anna LOVES playing basketball! This is the second year she has been on a great team.  They moved from their old league at the Y to the Clive league this year which meant getting their own uniforms (Anna picked her favorite #5!!) to finding their own practice facilities. She really improved a lot and hopes to play so much more basketball!! Their team name -- The Bulldogs!
