Wow! Is it the new year already? When I think back to one year ago, I remember all of the uncertainty and hope that were flowing through our lives! As I look back on 2009, I know one thing, a lot has changed for our little family!
Let's see, in the past year...
- In mid January, Dan moved to IA and two weeks later on February 1st, the rest of us moved to an apartment in West Des Moines after living in Lawrence for 16 1/2 yrs. Leaving in KS, countless friends and family (including Anna's super close and first friends)...
- Dan started a wonderful new job at Aviva and also formed his own LLC.
- Owen started walking - how amazing to see a person's first steps - now it's run, run, run...
- We braved temperatures and snow like we've never seen before...
- Anna started a new preschool.
- We sold our house in Lawrence for $4000 less than our asking price in a 'down market.'
- We bought a wonderful house in West Des Moines that we love very much!
- We moved out of the second floor, two-bedroom apt. Thank goodness!!
- Anna went off the diving board, down a 'big people' water slide, and went on an upside down roller coaster.
- We visited (often) the Des Moines Zoo, Science Center, Adventureland and my favorite, Living History Farms.
- Uncle Phil, Aunt Lek and cousins, Devin and Jordan, visited KS and we got to see them the whole time!
- Celebrated Dan's 40th Birthday with some of our BEST friends!!
- We made some great new friends in West Des Moines - especially the best neighbors a family could ask for!
- Anna started kindergarten and loved it!!
- We got a new car and new license plates - yes, IA tags which was kind of sad - but the good news - my tags say "Go KU."
- Anna lost two teeth.
- We went to Disney World - the best vacation EVER!!
- Anna and I got H1N1 (and lived through it - all 10 days for me).
- Owen got tubes in his ears and his adenoids removed.
- Saw a big ole blizzard and had 38" of snow in front of our garage (which meant that we had to shovel)...
- We enjoyed many visits from friends and family - thank goodness!! Ps. We LOVE visitors, so please come any time!! And, we were able to get back to KS many times to visit too!
Even though some things have not gone according to OUR plan, Dan and I still firmly believe that everything has been according to God's plan and our purpose. Even though sometimes we don't understand our life and what happens, we know that we will grow stronger and there is always a reason for it, even if we don't know it at the time. We will leave you with this because we believe he has a plan for all of us, including you.
Jeremiah 29:11 : "'For I know the plans I have for you' declares the Lord. 'Plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Plans to give you hope and a future.'"
