Hurt Bad!

Sometimes you have to go against the majority. I've found that out the past couple of years. I used to do what the "mainstream" told me to do. Then, I had Owen. Before he was born, I began to read things about vaccines and the number of vaccines that infants and toddlers were given at one time. More importantly, I read about what was in the vaccines. A great book was recommended to me by a dear friend and once Owen was born, Dan and I decided to get Owen vaccinated on an alternate schedule.

Yes, our pediatrician in Lawrence thought we should stick with the government's vaccination plan, but did agree that our plan (based on the book) was a good one and agreed to go along. I mean, he is our kid, right?

So, along this road, we have met people that understand our views and rationale and some that don't (I'm not going to mention the IA pediatrician who told us that we were bad parents, among other things, and said he couldn't see us). And, luckily we did find a pediatrician here that would follow our plan as well.

Please don't get me wrong, I don't think that parents that follow the government's guidelines are wrong. All of us parents just need to do what we think is the BEST for our children. And, it was NEVER our intent to not vaccinate, just be on an alternate schedule that allowed fewer shots at each appointment.

Well today, he finished up and he's completely where he "needs" to be (according to the goverment's plan). So what if he got here a little slower than most, he got here.

To celebrate, he got a huge, 'banilla' ice cream cone from DQ because those darn shots "hurt bad!"
