Safety Town...

Anna had her second day of Safety Town today. So I don't have to rack my brain to think of how to describe it, here is the description from the WDM Community Education website:

SAFETY TOWN
For students entering kindergarten this fall, Safety Town is an educational program introducing safety awareness and preventative procedures to young children. Some of the topics covered are safety around strangers, fire, water, buses, poison and traffic. Children will have an opportunity to learn through experiences in the Safety Town village, a field trip to the West Des Moines Police and Fire Departments and various classroom activities. Safety Town is offered to children entering kindergarten the Fall of 2009 in the WDMCSD.

She was a little nervous yesterday before class, but when I picked her up, she was beaming from ear to ear and had a million stories to tell. This morning when I dropped her off, most of the kids entering the school were running to get in - I think they all love it!

Anna told me today that there are two officers who lead their class, Officer Craig (he's boy, she said) and Officer 'Z' (she's a girl). She goes from 9-11:30 each morning this week and will 'graduate' on Friday. On Thursday, she gets to ride a school bus without Mommy and Daddy. Evidently this is very exciting!

It's a great program so far!

Love,

Ps. The other picture is of Owen's forehead after he and the sidewalk had an intimate encounter. He just started 'running' recently and last night he fell so hard on his head on the concrete both Dan and I heard the hit. He cried for a few minutes and then went on with his business...
