Back in August, my dear friend Sara, suggested that they come visit in December and we take our girls to see Mary Poppins at the Des Moines Civic Center. What a great idea!!

So, last night, we dressed in our Christmas best and off we went in the ice and snow downtown to see Mary. What a "practicially perfect" night, filled with singing, laughs, and a little excitment (the weather).

Anna's favorite part was when Mary and the kids went to the "Word" store and sang "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!" Her second favorite part was when Mary Poppins flew over our heads and away (yep, really happened). Some other favorite parts were when the statues came to life to sing and dance, when Michael came out of the chimney saying, "Hell-o there!" (which was the topic, filled with a lot of laughter, on the way home), and when Bert literally tapped danced on the ceiling. I have to admit, though, my favorite part was when Anna started singing "A Spoon Full of Sugar" and "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious," LOUDLY, along with Mary. With that, she got a lot of smiles from all the people sitting around us.

Luckily, our chauffer, Dan, drove us straight to the door as we were engulfed in a snow, wind and ice storm. Then he came back and picked us up and took us home. By the time the show was over, our exit to get home was the last 'open' exit on I-80 as the weather was so bad and the roads so treacherous, they closed it all the way to Omaha.

It truly was a wonderful night and we are so blessed to have such great friends who come and visit. The whole experience was so much more fun because we had them there to share it with! What a wonderful memory for all of us - It was an incredible night!!
