I thought this would be a great time to share some of what our little guy Owen has been up to...
Owen Loves To:
*Play Ball - Of any kind, but most especially basketball and baseball
*To dribble and makes a lot of shots on the highest level of his mini-basketball goal
*To bowl and golf on the Wii
*To play with 'building' things - Lincoln Logs, K'Nex, blocks, Handy Manny construction site
*To watch Curious George and Caillou
*To ride his trike and scooter (although, it used to be Anna's Princess scooter) - we offered to get him a boy one when he potty trained, but he insists the Princess one is his
*To play with his trains and cars
*To swim
*PB and J sandwiches, strawberries and bananas, cheeseburgers and fries, hot dogs and MILK! He drinks more milk than all the rest of us put together.
*To play fort with Anna
*To PLAY OUTSIDE!
New Things Owen is Doing:
*Spelling his own name!! He first spelled it O.P.T. because that's what we sometimes call him. We've quickly changed our ways! He's been trying to spell it for about a week, but still sometimes forgets the "e" and "n." He also recognizes the letters for his name now.
*Singing: Ever since we started brushing his teeth, I sing the ABCs during the brushing. He now sings his ABCs, "Bob Builder (he leaves out the "the") - can we fix it? Yes we can!," and "He's got whole wor-ld in His hands." And, I wouldn't be completely honest if I didn't mention "Shake your boo-ty, shake your boo-ty. Yeah, Yeah" Singing is a VERY big deal for Owen - I never thought he would sing... and since we've been going to Mommy and Me Music regularly, he even does actions to some songs!! Wow!!
*He is slowly but surely moving from Pull-Ups (potty training pants - that are kind of like big kid diapers) to Thomas the Train underwear. He is wearing them most times when we are at home.
*Along those same lines, just today, for the first time, he told me had to go potty - he never has told me he needed to go - I always just tell him we need to try.
*He went number two on the potty yesterday for the second time ever - but the first "trying" to do it. The first time (a couple of weeks ago) was a total fluke...
*Dribbling the basketball
*He knows his colors, shapes and can count to 15 (most of the time).
*Hits the baseball w/o a tee - just from Mommy's pitching.
*This kid really doesn't like bandaids. I really should say hates (even though I know hate is a bad word in our house) bandaids. Unfortunately, he and Anna had a bit of a bad fall the other night and his hand hurts bad enough from a scrape, that he actually is wearing a bandaid and requesting them... Now, that's news.
*Yes, that's grape jelly on his cheeks...
Some Cute Owenisms:
*"I have idea"
*"I love you more!"
*"When I'm big like Daddy, I'll be four."
*"Score!" - game he and Anna play in the car announcing they found a yellow car.
*"It's my turn to talk." - Gotta love this one in our family!
*"Love you too" - which I hear all the time b/c he ALWAYS says it back as well as "I missed you too."
*"Anna, can you play with me, please?" or "Anna, can you read to me, please" or - "Anna, can you XXYYZZ with/to me, please?" - He loves his sister...
We are truly blessed that this little boy is part of our family. He is truly a gift....
