Anna asked us a few weeks ago if she could be finished with swimming lessons. It was so cute because she told us that she's learned all she needs to know. Meaning, she feels like she knows all she needs to know to swim around the pool with friends in the summer! And, she's been taking lessons since she was a wee toddler. This winter, she's been enrolled in a level that works on learning a couple of last strokes and side breathing. We knew that if she passed her current level, she'd move on to the "Fish" level which means that she would be refining strokes and working on distance. She's never wanted to be on swim team, so we talked about it and decided that if she could "pass" the current level, she could be 'done' with lessons. After all, our goal has always been that she's confident and safe in the water.
At her lessons these past weeks, she's been working very hard and although she didn't know if she was going to pass, her eyes lit up with delight as she saw on her card that she had PASSED!! After all her lessons over the years, she now can say that she knows the backstroke, breaststroke, elementary backstroke, sidestroke, front crawl AND side breathing!! And, we are proud to say Anna no longer needs to take swimming lessons! She might take a lesson to learn how to dive better, but that will be next winter - later on and definitely just for fun!
So proud of our little "fish!"
